2010 Draft Grades

Team Needs Grade The Skinny
Arizona DT, LB B+ Filled needs with blue chip DT Dan Williams, and LB Daryl Washington.  WR Andre Roberts is an unknown quantity.
Atlanta LB, DL, OL B Solid draft that filled needs.  Not a lot of flash, but already have solid players at skill positions.
Baltimore CB, DL B- Will be a boom or bust draft with LB Kindle and DT Cody.  Did they need 2 consecutive TE's in the draft?
Buffalo OL, NT, QB C+ Needed a blue chip Offensive Tackle and a Nose Tackle.  Bills added an unproven NT and DE that could be solid. Got good value for OT Ed Wang in Round 5.  RB C.J. Spiller will make explosive plays like Felix Jones, but will also miss plays due to injury.  Bills have an imposing Running Back triumvirate.  7th round Pick QB Levi Brown might end up starting in 2010.
Carolina DL, WR, QB B- Great pick getting pro-ready QB Jimmy Clausen that is same offense that he had at Notre Dame.  Matt Moore will have to have a great pre-season to hold off Clausen.  Crazy move in the 3rd round giving up next yrs 2nd rounder to draft QB Armanti Edwards from App St. (who they project as a WR). Huh?
Chicago WR, OL C Chicago's 2010 draft is in the form of Jay Cutler and Julius Peppers.  Did not add big names, but at least added another QB in Dan LeFevour to the mix to compete for the Jay Cutler backup spot.
Cincinnati TE, DE B+ Filled all of their draft needs.  Not a lot of flash, but solid draft.
Cleveland WR, DB B Focused on the Defensive Backfield and got Colt McCoy in Round 3. Not sold on Colt's NFL career prospects in the short term, but not as much risk with a late 3rd round pick.
Dallas ILB, DB B Addressed need areas, but not sure Dez Bryant will be able to displace Roy Williams in the lineup.
Denver WR, LB B- All the draft experts sang the praises of Denver's draft.  I think Tim Tebow would have been a good 5th round pick to run the wildcat and help on special teams. If Tebow throws for more than 20 TDs in the NFL, I will post an apology on the front page of ultimatemockdraft.com.  The rest of Denver's draft was ok.  Not sure Zane Beadles will dominate on the O-line.  Liked the WR and Center picks.
Detroit DL, RB B+ Good moves at the top of the draft taking Suh and then trading up for a much needed running back in Jahvid Best.
Green Bay OL, DB B Brian Bulaga pick was solid.  He will help the Offensive line.  Not a lot of flash, but got the job done.
Houston RB, DB B- Not sure RB Ben Tate will excel in the NFL.  Kareem Jackson seemed to be rated a low first round pick. Could have traded back for more value with a lot of teams wanting to move up.
Indianapolis LB, DL B- Addressed needs on Defense, but Peyton Manning will be disappointed that more Offensive Lineman were not added. Indy's Offense can't be taken for granted.
Jacksonville DL, DB, QB C Agreed with the experts in asking why they took Tyson Alualu so early in a draft deep at Defensive Tackle.  Could have traded back for a few much needed picks and gotten the same guy.  Could have drafted a QB as well.
Kansas City OL, DL B+ Eric Berry will be an NFL star for the next decade.  RB McCluster will light things up.  Could have used more big boys on the Offensive and Defensive Lines.
Miami LB, DL, OL B Solid draft, but could have used a higher rated Linebacker.
Minnesota WR, OL C- Hopefully Chris Cook works out at DB. Toby Gerhart will not be a good replacement for an under appreciated Chester Taylor.  Seems like every pick was a bit of a reach in each round.
New England LB, TE C Experts love to laud the Patriots for amassing lots of draft picks each year, but the last few years they haven't produced dominating players.  Have heard good things about Center Ted Larsen.
New Orleans CB, LB B+ Seemed to get good value in each round they had a pick.  S Patrick Robinson and OT Charles Brown were smart picks.
NY Giants DL, LB B+ Giants went all out to try and upgrade the Defense and got strong players.  They still need a big time Middle Lineback since cutting Antonio Pierce.
New York Jets DL, OL B- The Jets are quickly moving into over-rating status after barely making into the playoffs last year.  Thomas Jones will have a better year than LT.  Draft addressed need areas, but could have added a Nose Tackle that was deep in that position.
Oakland LB, OL, QB B+ Raiders got value with every pick they made.  Probably could have given the Redskins less to get Jason Campbell.
Philadelphia DB, LB B Philly got a lot of players but not sure how well they translate at the next level.  With 13 picks, a few should pan out.
Pittsburgh OL, WR B- Pouncey was a good pick in round 1.  Not sure the Steelers got enough value in the later rounds. Probably should have taken a late round QB.
St. Louis QB, OL B Needed a franchise QB and they hope Bradford is the answer. I can almost guarantee that Bradford will hold out. Probably should have negotiated a contract before-hand. Saffold was a good 2nd round pick. Addressed need areas.
San Diego RB, DL B- Needed a Running Back, but not sure they had to trade that far up to get one.  Easy for me to say.  The success of this draft depends on 1st Round Pick RB Ryan Mathews.
San Francisco OL, DL B Not sure they had to trade up to get inconsistent OT Anthony Davis.  LB Bowman was a good value in the 3rd round.
Seattle OL, QB B Okung will probably be a Pro-Bowler at Offensive Tackle along with Safety Earl Thomas.  WR Golden Tate will make or break the draft.  Late round picks were ok, but not anything spectacular.
Tampa DL, WR B Tampa is totally revamping their defensive line.  Attempted to add playmakers at WR.  Could have used a few Offensive Lineman in the draft.
Tennessee WR, DT B- DE Derrick Morgan was a good pick.  Rest of the draft lacked game changing players.  DB Myron Rolle was a good pick in Round 6.  Who is QB Rusty Smith in Round 6?
Washington OL, DL C OT Trent Williams was a good pick, although Okung will probably have more Pro Bowls.  Did not add enough Defenders to be part of a new revamped 3-4 Defense.  OT Selvish Capers was a good risk in the 7th Round.
